Ik heb dit TV-college van natuurkundeprof R. Dijkgraaf gevolgd. Interessant vond ik vooral, dat het uitdijen van het heelal was geconstateerd op grond van het Dopplereffect. De Oostenrijker Doppler was de ontdekker van het effect en publiceerde zijn ontdekking in 1842.
Als een ambulance met sirene aankomt, worden z'n tonen (hun frekwentie) hoger. Als hij van ons af gaat, wordt de frekwentie lager, zakt het geluid. Dat geldt niet alleen voor geluidsgolven, maar ook voor lichtgolven. Naar ons toe worden ze iets blauwer, van ons af roder. Hubble en medewerkers hadden eerst ontdekt, dat zg. spiraalnevels van dezelfde aard waren als de Melkweg, maar dan heel ver van ons verwijderd. Vervolgens begrepen ze uit de zg. roodverschuiving, dat die verre sterrenstelsels zich (met toenemende snelheid) van ons af bewegen .. het uitdijend heelal. Welke kracht hier achter zit, is volgens Dijkgraaf onbekend, evenals uit watvoor deeltjes zwarte gaten bestaan.

Even after they systematically raped our daughters

Turks were nice people who meant no harm to Armenians

If they had any doubts on that score
they did not share them with the people.
Even our political and intellectual leaders were dupes.

On more than one occasion
I have been told by angry readers:
“What did you expect them to do?
Urge the people to abandon their 'babenagan douner'
(ancestral homes)?”
Why not, may I ask, if the alternative was
wholesale massacre and deportation into the desert?

Once when I reviewed the memoirs of a Russian KGB agent
in which he stated that several of our political leaders
(among them Tashnaks) were KGB plants,
an insider berated me for blabbering about things
I knew nothing about and understood even less?
What if, he said, these so-called former KGB agents
could be of greater use to us?
Leave it to an Armenian to see things

We have many brilliant minds in all fields of human endeavor
but not a single brilliant idea.
Our ablest academics study the past (medievalism and massacrism)
but none of them seems to be interested in our present and future.
I wonder why.
Is it because somewhere very deep inside
they have given up on us?
Or is it because there is no money in it?

Our benefactors and panchoonies spend millions
building schools, churches, and community centers
as if raising wall mattered much more than promoting solidarity.
*
Solidarity with us is very much like Mark Twain’s weather.
Every speechifier and sermonizer loves to quote Charents’s final message
(“Oh! Armenian people, your salvation etc.”)
but nobody does a damn thing.
*
“Where there is no vision the people perish” –
and we are perishing in both the Homeland and Diaspora –
by exodus and alienation respectively,
both of which have clearly definable socio-economic reasons
that can be isolated, named, and prevented.
But no one seems to give a damn!
The very same activists who speak of patriotism during the day
turn into gravediggers under cover of darkness.

Solidarity is not a commodity you can buy on the marketplace.
Neither is it tax deductible.
Could that be one reason why it is not popular
with our bosses, bishops, and benefactors?
I am not casting aspersions, just wondering…

Cricket werd een fractie eerder in Nederland geïntroduceerd dan voetbal. De cricketvereniging HCC werd in 1878 opgericht, de oudste voetbalclub in 1879: http://forum.nedarm....wtopic=468&st=0 post #1. In Haarlem bestaat nog het in 1881 opgerichte Rood en Wit. In 1880 hadden Engeland en Australië al een landenwedstrijd gespeeld.

Waterpolo kwam uit Schotland en Engeland. In Amsterdam werden 2 verenigingen hiervoor opgericht in 1892; er was in deze stad een zwemvereniging sinds 1870. Leiden heeft LZ 1886, waar sinds 1901 ook waterpolo werd gespeeld.

Den Haag, 11 april 2012 – Op dinsdag 24 april 2012 zal de Armeense gemeenschap kransen leggen bij het Armeense genocidemonument in Assen. De plechtigheid vindt plaats om 13.00 uur op begraafplaats “De Boskamp” in Assen – Boskamp 5 – 9405 NN Assen. De herdenking is georganiseerd door het 24 april comité van de FAON in samenwerking met de Stichting Armenia in Assen.

Het programma maakt deel uit van de jaarlijkse activiteiten ter herdenking van de Armeense genocide van 1915 van het 24 April Comité van de Federatie van Armeense Organisaties in Nederland (FAON). In dit kader vinden nog drie andere bijeenkomsten plaats. Hieronder de bijeenkomsten in chronologische volgorde.

Op vrijdag 13 april vindt in Den Haag een lezing “De Armeense genocide en het ontstaan van het moderne Turkije” door Turks Nederlandse wetenschapper Dr. Ugur Umit Ungor plaats. Dr. Ugur Umit Ungor is Universitair Docent aan het NIOD, afdeling Genocidestudies. Tevens is hij auteur van een aantal boeken en artikelen over de Armeense genocide. De lezing begint om 19.00 uur bij de Armeense Culturele Vereniging Abovian aan de Weesperstraat 91 in Den Haag. Zaal is open om 18.15 uur. De lezing is georganiseerd door het 24 april comité van de FAON in samenwerking met de Armeense Culturele Vereniging Abovian in Den Haag.

Op vrijdag 20 april wordt in Almelo een tentoonstelling over de Armeense genocide geopend door de CDA Kamerlid Pieter Omtzigt. Hier worden Nederlandse krantenartikelen van begin vorige eeuw, brieven, foto’s over massamoorden en deportaties van Armeniërs in het Ottomaanse Rijk tentoongesteld. De opening vindt om 19.00 uur plaats bij de Armeense Stichting Yerevan aan de Wierdensestraat 127 in Almelo. Zaal is open om 18.15 uur. De tentoonstelling is georganiseerd door de Stichting Yerevan in Almelo en AGBU Holland in samenwerking met het 24 april comité van de FAON.

Op dinsdag 24 april 2012 zal de jaarlijkse herdenkingsceremonie plaatsvinden bij het Armeense genocidemonument in Assen. De plechtigheid begint om 13.00 uur op begraafplaats “De Boskamp” in Assen – Boskamp 5 – 9405 NN Assen. De herdenkingsplechtigheid wordt gevolgd door een bijeenkomst in de aula van begraafplaats de Boskamp met artistieke uitvoeringen en sprekers. Armeense regisseur en publiek figuur Tigran Khzmalyan uit Armenië zal deze herdenking bijwonen.

De herdenking van 97 jaar Armeense genocide wordt afgesloten op woensdag 25 april in Eindhoven met de vertoning van de film “Ongestrafte misdaad” van Tigran Khzmalyan in de aanwezigheid van de filmregisseur. De film laat beelden zien van de foto’s demaakt door Armin Wegner tijdens de deportaties en afslachtingen van Armeniërs. De filmvertoning wordt gevolgd met klassieke muziek gespeeld door Tigran Maytesyan (viool), Maxim Bandurin (piano) en Rustam Hakobdjanian (duduk). Deze herdenkingsavond vindt plaats om 20.00 uur in Pathé bioscoop Eindhoven aan de Dommelstraat 27. Dit evenement is georganiseerd door de Stichting Alfa-Eriwan in Eindhoven in samenwerking met het 24 april comité van de FAON.

The Hague, 11 April 2012 – On Tuesday 24 April 2012, the Armenian community of Holland will commemorate the 97th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide by laying wreaths at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Assen, The Netherlands. The ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. at the cemetery "De Boskamp", address: Boskamp 5 in Assen, Netherlands. The commemoration is organised by the 24 April Committee of FAON in cooperation with the Foundation Armenia in Assen.

The commemoration at the Memorial of Armenian Genocide victims in Assen is part of the annual commemoration of the Armenian Genocide of 1915, which is organised by 24 April Committee of the Federation of Armenian Organisations in the Netherlands (FAON). In this context three other events will take place in following chronological order.

On Friday, 13 April, Turkish Dutch scholar Dr. Ugur Umit Üngör will give in The Hague a lecture a lecture entitled "The Armenian Genocide and the Making of Modern Turkey". Dr. Ugur Umit Üngör is Assistant Professor at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies. He is also author of several books and articles on the Armenian Genocide. The lecture starts at 7 p.m. at the Abovian Armenian Cultural Centre, addresse: Weesperstraat 91 in The Hague. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.. The lecture is organised by the 24 April Committee of FAON in cooperation with the Armenian Cultural Association Abovian in The Hague.

On Friday, 20 April an exhibition on the Armenian Genocide will be opened in Almelo by the Dutch MP for the Christian Democrate faction Mr. Pieter Omtzigt. The exhibition exposes Articles in Dutch newspapers from early last century on masacres and deportations of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, letters, photographs etc. The opening of exhibition will take place at 7 p.m. At the Armenian Foundation Yerevan, address: Wierdensestraat 127 in Almelo. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. The exhibition is organised by the Foundation Yerevan and AGBU Holland in Almelo in cooperation with the 24 April Committee of FAON.

On Tuesday, 24 April 24, the annual commemoration ceremony will be held at the Armenian Genocide Memorial in Assen. The ceremony starts at 1 p.m. at the cemetery "De Boskamp", address: Boskamp 5 in Assen. The commemoration ceremony will be followed by a meeting in the auditorium of the Boskamp cemetery with artistic performances and speakers. Armenian film director and public figure Tigran Khzmalyan from Armenia will be present at this meeting.

The commemoration of 97th anniversary of Armenian Genocide will be concluded on Wednesday, 25 April in Eindhoven with the screening of the movie "Unpunished Crime" by film director Tigran Khzmalyan. The film is based on the photographs of Armin Wegner on the Armenian Genocide. The film director Tigran Khzmalyan will be present at this screening. During this commemorative event classical music will be played by Tigran Maytesyan (violin), Maxim Bandurin (piano) and Rustam Hakobdjanian (duduk). This commemorative evening will take place at 8 p.m. at the Pathe cinema Eindhoven, address: Dommelstraat 27 in Eindhoven. This event is organised by the Foundation Alfa-Eriwan in Eindhoven in cooperation with the 24 April Committee of FAON.

Consider the abuses of nationalism

of colonialism, communism, and the brotherhood of all men.

who questions or doubts the existence of God.
The real atheist is he who kills in the name of God.
Who are the enemies of dissent?
if not killers who hide themselves behind pious platitudes

Isn’t it the quintessence of double-talk

This is an announcement by 24 April Committee of the Federation of Armenian Organisations in the Netherlands (FAON) concerning the programme of commemoration of 97th anniversary of Armenian Genocide perpetrated by Ottoman government. The commemoration takes place in The Hague on 13 April, in Almelo on 20 April, in Assen on 24 April and in Eindhoven on 25 April.

Om te zien hoeveel mensen (leden en gasten) het forum bezoeken, moet ik twee dagen het forum op "forced log in" zetten. Dit betekent dat je het forum alleen kunt zien als je ingelogd bent.

Het probleem is dat er heel veel "bots" (robots die webpagina's bezoeken, zoals search engines, maar ook gevaarlijkere bots) op dit moment forums bezoeken. Ook deze. Dit is een reden geweest dat het forum een paar keer offline is geweest.

Na twee dagen zal het forum weer publiek zijn voor iedereen. In de tussentijd kunnen leden inloggen, alles zien, en normaal posten.

Sorry voor het tijdelijke ongemak.

Since January 2012, the Armenian dance classes have been started at the Abovian Centre. Mr. Gagik Avetisyan, the former leader of Youth Dance Ensemble Barekamutyun in Armenia is the teacher and we are planning to establish Armenian Dance Ensembles for adults, teenagers and children.

Armeense danslessen bij de Vereniging Abovian

Sinds januari 2012 zijn de Armeense danslessen van de Vereniging Abovian van start gegaan met de bedoeling om Armeense dansgroepen van kinderen, tieners en volwassenen te vormen.

Dansleraar is Gagik Avetisyan. Hij was o.a. leider van jeugddansgroep Barekamutyun in Armenië.

De lessen vinden in het Clubgebouw van de Armeense Culturele Vereniging Abovian plaats.

Armenian Dance Lessons at Abovian Cultural Centre

Since January 2012, the Armenian dance classes have been started at the Abovian Centre with the intention to form Armenian dance groups of children, teenagers and adults.

The instructor is Mr. Gagik Avetisyan. He was among others the leader of youth dance ensemble Barekamutyun in Armenia.

HELP Italiaanse vriend word niet geaccepteerd!

Ik heb al bijna 6 maanden een vriend en zijn afkomst is Italiaans en ik zelf ben Armeens-Lebanees. Ik ben 18 jaar en hij is 22 jaar en we studeren allebei nog.

Mijn vader is heel erg streng, als hij hoort dat ik een italiaanse vriend heb dan vermoord hij me.. Ik kan me familie dan vergeten en me vriend ook. Wie weet kan me vader me uithuwelijken ik verwacht alles van hem.

Ik kan ook niks tegen me moeder zeggen want zei is ook nogal als mijn vader. Ik heb ook broers en daar wil ik er helemaal niet over denken wat hun gaan doen als zei het horen.

Mijn vriend heeft makkelijk praten want hij zit niet in zo een sitiuatie als mij.. Zijn ouders weten er van maar zei zijn ook niet echt blij met mij.. Maar mijn vriend zegt dat alles goed komt met tijd maar dat is het geval bij mijn vader echt niet zo.

Ik weet niet wat ik moet doen ik vind het zo lastig en ik kan me vader soms ook niet aankijken want ik lieg ook veel tegen hem.Als ik met me vriend wil afspreke zeg ik elke keer dat ik met een vriendin ben of ben met me nicht. En ik heb dat zo vaak gezegd dat ik het echt gehad heb met me leugens. Ik kan ook nogal niet lekker op straat lopen met me vriend want er zijn nogal kennisen en familie in de buurt die mij kunnen zien en dan dat ze het meteen aan me vader gaan doorgeven. Dan pas zit ik in problemen.

Ik hou echt van me vriend en ook van me familie ik zit in zo een lastige situatie dat ik een keuze moet maken tussen me familie en me vriend. Maar als ik voor me familie kiez ga ik spijt krijgen en dan ben ik me vriend kwijt. En als ik voor me vriend kiez dan ben ik me familie kwijt me huis kwijt alles ik ben dan klaar voor mijn familie..

Ik weet het echt niet meer.. ben zo in de war en stress me ook nog eens dood

ik heb egt tips en of advies nodig.. want ik kan het aan niemand kwijt.. uiteindelijk ben ik hiero beland.

The Arts Diplomacy Festival 2012 will explore how the arts can be used to change theory into practice and express, create and improve social awareness and diplomatic relations. The arts include a variety of mediums through which emotions and culture can be expressed: music, art, literature and sports, to name only a few. The program will examine how the arts can be used within the field of cultural diplomacy to initiate intercultural dialogue and cooperation through movement, thought and active expression.

The Arts Diplomacy Festival 2012 is the brainchild of Cultural Diplomacy in Practice (CDP), a department within the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy. CDP is predicated on the ICD’s philosophy that diplomacy must transcend mere discussion and include practical implementation of theory for the reason that sometimes actions speak louder than words: Cultural diplomacy must show rather than tell.

Popular art forms have a unique ability to bring people from disparate backgrounds together by underscoring shared values. The Arts Diplomacy Festival intends to demonstrate the underutilized power of art and physical expression to further the cause of cultural diplomacy.

The program will consist of lectures, seminars, debates and panel discussions featuring leading figures from international politics, diplomacy, academia, civil society, and the private sector. The Festival will also showcase the performances of artists, musicians and performers from all over the world and include a full day of practical workshops devoted to planning for future initiatives.

The Arts Diplomacy Festival 2012: Cultural Diplomacy in Practice
Cultural diplomacy relies upon thorough dialogue between disparate nations and cultures as a tool to promote a global peace and stability; however, there remains a tendency within the field to let the development of theory overshadow the practical elements necessary for implementation. The Arts Diplomacy Festival aims to explore how the arts; particularly music, fine arts and literature, sports, gastronomy, academia, religion and politics can be utilized by and delivered to governments, businesses and universities in an active practical, informative and effective way of communication and expression.

This year the traditional Armenian Fire Festival Tiarnendarach (Coming Forward to the Lord), also known as Trendez (Fire Festival) will be held at Abovian Cultural Centre on Sunday 19 February 2012 at 3 p.m.

Vuurfeest: Dit oeroude Armeense feest stamt nog uit de heidense tijden en wordt in de Armeense Christelijke traditie op 14 februari, 40 dagen na de Armeense kerst op 6 januari, gevierd. Het feest staat voor de naderende lente, voor jeugd, liefde, vruchtbaarheid, zegening van de pas getrouwde paren. Het vuur staat symbool voor licht, warmte, vreugde, maar ook als beschermer tegen het kwaad.

Het vuur wordt aangestoken door de pas getrouwde paren en de jeugd. Daarna verzamelen mensen om het vuur en springen eerst de jonge paren en daarna de kinderen en anderen over het vuur om daarvan warmte te krijgen en de onderlinge liefde te verstevigen. Daarna wordt gegeten, gedanst en feestgevierd.

Fire Festival: This very old Armenian Feast dates back to pagan times and according to the Christian custom this holiday is celebrated on 14 February, 40 days after the Armenian Christmas on 6 January. The main ceremony is a bonfire, symbolizing the coming of spring, the youth, the love, the fertility, the blessing of newly married couples. The fire symbolizes the light, the warmth, the joy and also the protector against evil.

Usually the young couples or young people would light fire in the yard. People gather around the fire and first the young couples jump through the fire, followed by children and adults for getting the warmth of the fire, which strengthens their love and devotion. After the fire is extinguished, eating, dancing and party begin.

The Degree
While the study of political science has been a cherished tradition of academia, recent developments demand the identification of entirely new theories and models. An understanding of the challenges faced by the contemporary world requires an interdisciplinary approach; International Relations and Diplomacy should not be understood only as disciplines of Political Science or Political Theory, but also be interpreted from the perspective of art and culture, economics, law, and other social sciences.

Offered by the DIU in partnership with the ICD, the program combines the traditional academic components of international relations with a focus on the role of soft power and cultural diplomacy in contemporary global affairs. Only with a comprehensive understanding of the theory, history and practice of International Relations one can properly understand and apply cultural diplomacy.

Bekerculturen

Er waren rond 2000 v. Chr. 3 bekerculturen in Europa, die van de Standvoetbeker ( http://forum.nedarm....?showtopic=2154 post #4. Waren de erbij gevonden strijdhamers relatiegeschenken?), die van de Trechterbeker (Hunebedden, familiegraven) en die van de Klokbeker. Over de laatste verschillen de Nederlandse en Engelse wikipedia van opvatting. De Nederlandse neemt aan, dat de Klokbekercultuur (centrum op Iberisch Schiereiland, "maritieme beker"-vondsten langs allerlei kusten) vermoedelijk ontstond uit die van de Standvoetbeker. De Engelse wijst op het gelijktijdig voorkomen van deze 2 culturen en acht die van de Klokbeker apart ontstaan. De in principe Indo-Europeestalige Strijdhamer-Standvoetbekercultuur kwam uit het Oosten.
